Any technique that encompasses a mix of scientific and practical disciplines and employs living organisms, or parts of such organisms, to make or modify products, to improve plants or animals or to develop microorganisms for specific uses. Biotechnological methods range from the traditional (beer- and bread- making) to the most advanced (genetically modified plants and animals, cell therapies and nanotechnology).
